SYNOPSIS

.
	If soccer is a moral equivalent of war, could a penalty kick decide a battle? A man confronts the battles of his life using soccer as a template: a penalty kick is for the team not for personal expression, and self-sabotage incurs collateral damage. As a youth he wasted a penalty kick to show off, for the sake of revenge. As a young captain he gave in to temptation and showed off in a verbal duel that cost dearly: no reinforcements arrived when needed; but the attackers accepted a novel way to settle things: winners of a soccer game get to keep the disputed territory, and it all comes down to a penalty kick. As a man he once again confronts the ball, the goalkeeper – for the team, for the cheering fans, for himself.

BIO

«Originally from Italy, I left my homeland for Canada in hopes of furthering my professional aspirations. I currently hold Canadian Landed Immigrant status. I have eleven years experience as a Steadicam and camera operator in drama, documentary and news. Merging my technical and creative backgrounds, I look forward to producing work in both Canada and Europe.
Familiar with the cultures of both North America and Europe, my artistic perspective occupies the gap between them.
I bring to my filmmaking considerable life experience. I grew up close to the streets and am intimately familiar with the complex and dark realities of urban living in a multi-racial/ethnic/cultural society.
Furthermore, I am presently living the “reality” of a New Canadian, experiencing on a daily basis the hope and disappointment shared by people caught between worlds. These life experiences have developed within me a compassionate interest in and understanding of the human condition, and this informs both my work and my attitude to living».
